Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull air
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with different rules that they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic and ruined world above. Whether they are exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book “Wool” – the book has 82 chapters. The floor fans in several episodes spin the wrong way, relative to the orientation of the blades.

Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 2023 TV Shows You Need to Binge (2023). I read the Hughes trilogy years ago and absolutely loved the books. When I was randomly scrolling through IMDB and found SILO I was immediately intrigued. I can see some pretty mixed reviews and can identify with some of them, so here’s my take on the first season.
First off, I love dystopian literature!
The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in what-if scenarios. My fascination with the trilogy was solidified because Hughes was able to develop Orwellian ideas within a what-if relevant to the modern world. Imagining the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a daunting task. I think Hughes did a wonderful job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way.
The acting is phenomenal for the more central characters
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the plot. It is based on the books, but of course it has to fit viewers in a fast-paced world. However, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo. In contrast to the shallow storytelling of other shows, «SILO» has a wonderful blend of character development and attention to atmosphere.

The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliettte. They lack the atmospheric development of the silo as a society. Of course it has to appeal to a receptive audience.
